Can anyone recommend a good Hungarian restaurant?

All I can find on Toronto.com is Courtyard...any experiences with this
place?

Thanks in advance.

decision process a lot easier.

There are two on Kingston Road in the east end of Toronto. One is The
Corvina, an attractive, intimate place with white curtains on the windows in
the Upper Beaches. It's at 906 Kingston Road on the north side across from
the intersection of Balsam Ave, (there's a CIBC branch across the street).
We've eaten there and the menu decor and service are very good, prices
reasonable. It may only be open evenings, but you can phone for hours at
(416) 699-6841.

The other one is the "Cosy Hungarian Dining Room" (!!), 2448 1/2 Kingston
Rd. on the north side, farther east in the former Scarborough just west of
Midland Avenue across from a big strip mall. The number is (416) 261-2415.

I forgot to mention that we've never tried this restaurant. Perhaps someone
else has, and can let us know what they think of it.

Thanks so much!

Dinner is tonight with a Hungarian client who is in town from Montreal.

I decided on the Courtyard for no other reason then their website -
pictures/menu, etc.

Hopefully he will approve, as I could really care less :o)
I will let you all know what the place is like.

Thanks again!

I sure hope so! I'm chiming in from Boston, and haven't been in TO
since September 2002, unfortunately, but Country Style is one of my
favorite resturants in Toronto and I always make a point of getting
at least one and preferably two or three meals there when I visit!
Not much atmosphere, but the food and the prices can't be beat!

Dunno - it's been years. Hardly the place for an intimate dinner,
though- suits a hungry student on a budget.
Then there was the Korono - last time I was there, the kitchen staff
were all Sri Lankans. So much for authenticity.

One of the top swedish chefs on the planet right now, Marcus Samuelsson,
is 100% Ethiopian by birth. Wake up and smell the kopi luwak, buddy.
So the Sri Lankins in the Korona kitchen are all top Hungarian
chefs, huh. Guffaw!

Yeah, still there. I wasn't too impressed with their supposed house
specialty, cabbage rolls. Overly cooked cabbage, excess paprika. and
tiny, plain boiled potatoes and store bough rye bread. I found much
better at the Hungarian Pavillion and the Danube Swabian Pavillion of
Toronto's Caravan last summer...now THAT is good home cooked cabbage
rolls.

I'd like to try Hungary Thai in Kensington Mkt, said to be fusion
place. Some say it's good.
